This is the latest version of the Windows operating system with a new interface and other new features, such as the new Microsoft Store, a new personalized feed powered by AI, and best-in-class browser performance in Microsoft Edge, integrated Microsoft Teams Chat. What’s new in Windows 11: – Windows 11 will receive a completely new design. Microsoft certainly needs a good reason to change its previous statements and still get rid of Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. And a completely new design is perfect for this. The Redmond giant has long been preparing a redesign for the update, codenamed Sun Valley (« Sun Valley »); Apparently, this was the name of Windows 11.

The Sun Valley project has been shining on the network for a long time: Microsoft regularly revealed details of the new interface style, insiders shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their circles developed realistic concepts based on it. – Start and system items will float above the bottom bar. Start is the business card and face of every recent version of Windows. It is not surprising that in Windows 11, the developers are remaking it again, but not so much in functional terms as in visual terms: the start window will be located above the bottom bar. Admittedly, these minor changes make the system look much fresher.
– Right angles will disappear, they will be replaced by fillets
Judging by information from the network, Microsoft will not radically change the « insides » of this menu: the innovations will affect only the design of the window itself. The Control Panel will also float and its layout will be exactly the same as the « Start ». The Action Center will be combined with the control buttons; A similar one has been used in some other operating systems for some time. Almost all mentions of this new menu indicate that it will be an island: the control buttons will be located in a separate panel, notifications will be in another, and specific items (for example, the player) in another separate panel. In fact, internal and conceptual designers disagree on this issue: some are sure that Microsoft will not change its traditions and will retain right angles, while others are sure that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the steak trend.
– There will be a transparent background with a blur everywhere
The latter better fits the definition of « completely new Windows »: floating menus are not enough for a new design to be considered truly new. Fillets are expected to affect practically the entire system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows. True, even on this issue, the opinions of conceptual designers differ: some draw fillets on all possible interface elements, others combine them with right angles. There are disagreements on the Web about the island style of the window display, the corner design and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the windows. Most design leaks and renders show transparency and blurring across all windows, whether it’s the Start menu or Explorer at least.
– A new font that has already been shown
Moreover, these effects are even present in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft was developing in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak gadgets. The so-called acrylic transparency involves the use of new effects when hovering over elements, as well as increased spacing between elements: the areas of the interface with which the user interacts will certainly become larger, and the page titles will thicken. Windows 11 will most likely use the default responsive Segoe UI Variable font, which already appeared in Windows 10 Build 21376 for Insiders. Its advantage is that it is equally suitable for small texts and large inscriptions.
