When the glass on his feet is visible, he is wearing socks
Narrative
A psychiatrist, after witnessing a strange, traumatic event involving a patient, becomes increasingly convinced that he is in danger from an alien entity. In the days leading up to the film’s September 30, 2022 premiere, the cast appeared seated at various baseball games behind home plate, standing still and smiling, staring into the camera, not moving despite the understandable concern of fans in Smile shirts in the crowd. Another soon appeared in the background with the audience during the Today show. At about the 31-minute mark, Rose smashes a window when her alarm clock goes off.

A few seconds later, when he checks the door, he is wearing lace-up shoes. Based on what happens later on the team, there are several continuity issues that are not necessarily « errors. » but in fact, the « discontinuity » shown may be intentional; In Rose’s consciousness/sense. Why are you doing this to me? Monstrosity: Because Your Mind Is So Encouraging.

The opening and closing Paramount logos are a curved line in the shape of a smile at the foot of a mountain. Lollipop By Beverley Ross & Julius Dixon performed by The Chordettes. Sosie Bacon plays an incompetent therapist who mumbles platitudes and stands by while bad things happen to her patients. After proving that he is incapable of administering first aid to anyone within a 50-mile radius, he becomes afraid.
It’s some absurd nonsense, but it’s produced brilliantly
Then he has nightmares of being all scary and not doing much, perhaps as an ironic joke. None of the characters, supernatural or otherwise, seem to be any good at their jobs. Good acting, good cinematography, solid editing, and engaging direction. It’s a good time despite the brain-dead characters, copy-paste writing, awful dialogue and endless clichés.
Worth watching once, just for fun
It’s a fun and occasionally effective horror film with pulpy jump cuts – highly polished fur so shiny you stop noticing its smell.
